This naturalistic front yard has permeable pea gravel paths, outlined in Permaloc aluminum edging. The clean lines match the modern rectangles in the house design. A square raised planter was built to match the block construction of the house. A Native Desert Willow and Salvia 'Bee's Bliss' were placed in the planter.
A patio was created with broken concrete from the original pathways, constructed in 1957. The corner piece has the mason's signature in it, paying homage to the house.
California poppies apparently like to seed in gravel, as evidenced by their existence in this patio
Many wildflowers were seeded into the meadow including Lupine, Tidy Tips, and California Poppies
Outside of the meadow is a naturalistic planter, a combination of California natives and Mediterranean plants
Salvia 'Wendy's Wish', Silverberry, Asparagus Fern, and Foxtail Agave are some of the cultivars that adorn the front
at the differing textures and colors. The Blue Chalk Sticks pop out from underneath for a nice bit of subdued color. The large shrub/small tree is a Eucalyptus 'Moon Lagoon'. The new growth on the Eucalyptus is blue, aging to a beautiful rusty color as time goes on
Lupines and California Poppies create a beautiful juxtaposition in the landscape in Spring
This vignette contains a Desert Museum Palo Verde tree, a California Native Mallow, and some succulents to adorn
